Thanks, all. Long story short, there is a malignant type of cancer in her toe but we'd have to get a sample of the cells to determine whether it's a kind of cancer that may have already travelled beyond the toe. Her heart is mildly enlarged, but the radiologist said the chest looks normal. Depending on the cancer type, we'd need to do some testing on the heart to make sure it can handle the surgery to remove the toe (or potentially skip the toe amputation surgery if the cancer has already spread).

She is stable now and almost back to her usual self (though still going easy on that paw, of course). She still gets excited to see her human and dog friends, and even starting the zoomies once (which I put a stop to). Will talk to the vet again today after they send me some estimates on the cell sampling, more heart x-rays (with more sedation), ECG, possibly an ultrasound of the heart...oh my, I may need to sell some stuff to afford this (but I'm not stopping until they say there's no point!).

    Enjoy your day, everyone.
    Love from Jen and Sophie

I am so sorry you are going through this with your gorgeous girl and I know only too well how worrying it must be for you. Wishing you and Sophie all the best that the cancer is just confined to her toe and sending lots of your way and keeping you both in my thoughts as you deal with her health challenge.

Sending lots of prayers and good thoughts. Hopefully the cancer is isolated to the toe. Big hugs.

The latest is that this Thursday Sophie will head in for sedation, chest x-rays, fine needle aspirate, and an ECG. Hopefully she won't be too mad at me after all that.

Hopefully the sedation will make it so she doesn't really know what's going on nor whom to blame! Never you! Sending wishes for good results!
