Ursa had her vet visit today with an early drop-off and mid-day pick-up. She was still a little groggy then, and is getting better now.

Preliminary xray results shows calcification by her larynx (no definite LP), lungs look good, spine also good - no arthritis at this time, but there is a concern that a Board Certified Radiologist will look at. It may be nothing, but if it is, it scares the crap out of us. Praying and crossing fingers and toes that the radiologist will give us good news about Ursa! It will take 24 to 48 hours for the results.

Ursa's horizontally cut dewclaw nail was an easy fix, since "Ursa took care of the healing herself" - the vet tech had said. The nail was so loose that it came off with little effort, no infection and no bandage, etc, needed.

Thanks for all your well wishes and good thoughts for Ursa!

The results are finally in from the Radiologist. Ursa has chronic bronchitis "there is a mild broncho-interstitial pattern". Not from kennel cough - which she didn't have, but from allergies to pollens and chemicals around us with our walks. The biggest chemical is from people who spray the grass with fertilizer and pesticides. Ursa is on medication for now, and will go on Lung Gold after the meds to help prevent more episodes.

No Laryngeal Paralysis, as "Normal radiograph of the pharynx. The mineralization in the laryngeal cartilages is normal."

The scary part was that a vet, not Dr. Wanda, thought that Ursa's heart was enlarged on the right side, indicating possible hemangioscarcoma in her heart. This has been ruled out, as the pathologist reports "The heart is normal in size and contour."

There is still the calcification on her larynx (what I saw on the xrays was 5 small spots), but this is age-related and nothing can be done to change this. We are so happy with these findings!!! We can deal with bronchitis over HSA!! We love you tons Ursa-Bear!!!

Thank you for your well wishes and kind words!!
