Ursa needs your well wishes, pls...

Ursa is 11 years old. At past March /22 annual vet visit, Dr. Wanda said that Ursa looked and felt great! Blood and urine tests were "perfect" - Dr. Wanda's words.

Ursa has a little cough of and on which becomes hoarse the more she does, especially when she's playing ball at the park. Dr. Wanda thinks it might be age related narrowing of the esophagus or calcification, or possibly the beginnings of Laryngeal paralysis, since her lungs and heart sounds were perfect. This cough is worse when she wears her harness with walks and playing ball at the park, but is minimal when she has nothing on at home. We're setting her up for xrays this week - under sedation. If you've had experience with this type of cough, please let me know.

Then, once again Ursa cut her left dewclaw nail near the top of the claw last week - we don't know how she did this. Today the nail is dangling and we're hoping it will fall off, but if not, they will take care of this with Ursa's vet appointment. We've tried to dress her broken nail as the last time, but this time Ursa is fighting us too much, in fact, last week she hit the side of my head so HARD that I had a slight concussion. No point going through that again.

Anyway, could you please send Ursa well wishes? Thanks!

PS. Loua is doing well and will turn 2 years old next month - the same date as Cookie . Loua has passed all her clearance tests for her breeder and soon she'll go into the show rings. We're busy training with Loua to behave by exposing her to all situations, including going into the office every 2 weeks for the day, and everyone loves her! We're also doggy-sitting Loua's relatives from time to time, and will be sitting her cousin, Penny next weekend, while her people get married. It's busy, but fun!

Oh no, poor Ursa I have no input, could be LP, since her heart and lungs are fine (which is great!). I hope it's nothing serious and that you get a clear answer what's going on with her.

I do hope Cookie and Loua will celebrate their birthdays together once more! Cookie is about to turn 16, he has some health issues and they are under control, but you never know with these old guys. I keep my fingers crossed that he will be okay and that he will devour one more cake!

Ursa's vet appointment is Thursday morning, for drop off.
Here's a picture of her cut dewclaw nail. It's hanging on by a thread of her quik. No infection or swollen. Poor girl, she's definitely favoring her paw.

I thought I'd responded. I'm sorry to hear about Ursa's health issues. I don't have any recommendations but I'm certainly hoping the cough improves and her dew claw procedure is uneventful.
