    Update on Ursa...

Ursa, who is now 13.5 years old, is on antibiotics again for clostridium-diff infection. We took Ursa to her vet as an urgency when she had this infection last months, was put on metronidazole, but it came back last week. The poor girl is so tough and tries so had to stay happy even though she's feeling rotten, her tail is always wagging. These bacterial infections are hard on any dogs of any age, leaving them with vomiting, terrible diarrhea and weight loss. Ursa is looking quite skinny right now. Once she's over this, her food intake with increase to put weight on her.

Could you please send Ursa healing thoughts and vibes? Thanks .

Ugh, C. diff is a nasty germ. That must be hard on you all but especially Ursa. I hope she recovers soon.

    Thanks everyone!

Yes, c. diff is nasty! Even though Ursa has more gray/white fur than black at her age, she still acts young and active, but these 2 bouts in a row of c. diff have really affected her. Her coat is dull, she's slower, sleeps more, doesn't want to play with Loua, but still wanted to go for a mini-walk today. She's such a trooper!

The vomiting and diarrhea have stopped and she's a little more perky, so the antibiotics are working and helping her.

Oh poor girl, sending a lot of healing thoughts and hope for good poop. Not sure if it will help you can ask your vet but, Cliff has some puppy digestive issues, and I learned of something new to me anyway "NUTRAMAX Proviable" it is just an over the counter probiotic Chewy sells it but a lot of pet stores carry it too. Hemi used to use Fortiflora and it was good but this clears Cliff up right away whenever he has softer stools. I also put it in his last meal before his surgery thinking the stress might cause him some issues and he has maintained solid stool all the way through.

Thanks Jeff for the info and so glad that the probios are helping Cliff.

Ursa and Loua get probios everyday and as per Ursa's vet, we increased Ursa's dosage to 2X daily. So here's the gross part of how Ursa got c.diff. While at the park walking loose, Ursa ate another animal's diarrhea and about a week later she was sick. All stool tests where done and only c.diff was found, NO worms. Loua has stayed well through this all.
