    Found Dog Rant

I get it if your dog is lost and you are worried out of your mind and don't give good location directions on where you live, where you were or where we should go to help you look for it. Though, hey, you should know where you were walking your dog.

But if you found a dog, for crying out loud, can't you tell us the one you saw running loose, and it's still loose, was at a more precise location than just somewhere on a 17 km long road? Can't you give a cross road? Well I asked, and got a cross road and Eddy and I just spent an hour and half in a county forest very close, keeping our eyes peeled, and we didn't see it. Then I got home and found another Found post, they're somewhere in a township that is over 516 square km. Oi.

My instinctive judgemental self thinks, "you can't fix stupid". But I agree with what you say about being frazzled and not thinking clearly...and the self I had a good talking to many decades ago wants to be less judgemental and kinder.

Disclaimer: I have had quite a few times since when I've regretted making myself be kinder and giving benefit of the doubt. Things of the "if I had it to do all over again..." nature.

So: I hear your rant and agree with you. And I also applaud you and Eddy for making that effort...you've got a good heart, Nancy!

SunDance, it was near me and I knew the owner of the lost dog, who had posted somewhere else. The finder though, surely they are not discombobulated by worry and could do better at the geography? As for the worried owner, some of them are scary. I said I'd go look for one lost in a place we frequent. Which entrance did you use, I asked. The one off Hwy. 93. There is NO entrance to this +4,000 acre property off of Hwy. 93. A road running off Hwy. 93 has several entrances, two of them now marked as P1 and P2. This woman had no idea. What if the dog was hurt, what if she was hurt? It's dangerous.

Sounds like maybe they should both be wearing GPS.

That has to be so frustrating. One of the reasons recall [gun dog whistles] are so useful.
