Opie gets a new baby brother!!!

So Opie’s getting old these days and isn’t as peppy to go on our hikes. He does hike a while but not long so I got Merle Mutt III. Merle was adopted from the local animal shelter where he had been a while. He was gotten by the shelter a couple mos back from a abuse/neglet incident in a nearby town. There was a litter. When I went in there where only two boys Merle and his brother. My only regret is that I couldn’t take his brother too. They said he is Lab/Healer mix. No matter what Merle is has no bearing to me, he is fitting in perfectly and has brought a new dimension of love into our family already.

Awwww...that's wonderful, Bamps. It sounds like he's the perfect new family member (what? not another Chihuahua??? ). I agree with Black Labbies, that's an awesome name...he looks like he approves, too. Hugs to Opie and congratulations to him, too, for now being the big brother.

I am surprised that he is using the doggy door to potty and comes when called already (just got him yesterday)

Merle is a handsome boy, not haggard looking at all. Does he sing? How old is he in your photo?

Berna, Opie thinks its nonsense for him to be here. He’s kind of an old grumpy grouchy Opie pup at this point. Both Opie’s baby brothers steer clear of him cause he puts up with none of it. Little Chuggy, (wife’s little dog) just idolizes Opie but agrees with Opie about pups in the house. Lol. They are adjusting quick tho. Merle is really coming along tho, no accidents indoors, he uses doggy door for potty, he recognizes his name and responds when called, and he has already stopped pulling on his leash and today for a short time went with leash but off hands if that makes sense for a short time. Before spring, I will need to train Merle and retrain Opie and Chuggy for snakes. It’s cheaper and works better than any snake vax.
