Mrs. Woody and I like to go to sports events and usually ever year we go to a ball game and hockey game. We hadn't been to Toronto since the pandemic and last Sunday was our first trip back. I'm a big Yankees fan and a friend gave us some tickets.
There is a train that takes you into Toronto close to the park and they have a great $10 all you can ride for 24 hrs deal on weekends. Such a great way to travel. We have to drive a little bit to get to first station but it's well worth it for the day.
The park itself was renovated over the last couple of years. They basically added a number of bars, kid zones and viewing areas in the outfield. We checked out a couple of them before the game. They would be pretty packed during the game so we didn't go back. You can see them in the outfield in the photos.
They closed the dome in the 3rd inning. I have never seen them close it part way through before. It was a nice sunny day out, not sure why they closed it. It got a little cool out but no rain at all.
There is one concession stand in the 200 level that has cheap food and drinks. We used it a lot because otherwise ball park prices are right off the rails. $17 for a tallboy beer that costs $3 at any other store.
That's it. We are trying to plan a hockey or football game for the fall.
I'm a long time Baltimore Orioles fan, and try to make a couple games per year. It's gotten harder for me to convince myself to drive over 2 hours (one way) to Camden Yards, pay for parking, walk though a crime riddled neighborhood, and pay ridiculous prices for tickets, food, and a few beers. Ot's sad because I absolutely love going to the ballpark and watching live baseball.
ON a side note, if you really want to watch some fun baseball, check out the Savanna Banana's on Youtube. They are playing all of the US, they just played 3 games at Fenway Park which were sold out. Their games are all sold out for the next two years. I tried to gets tickets to see them in Philly in September, but of course, sold out. Check them out, you won't be sorry.
I was watching some Bananas highlights when Nick Swisher joined up with them at Steinbrenner Field. Looks like lot so much fun.
I wish I lived close to some AAA parks. I would love to be able to catch some of those games.
