Well, things have really changed. I was heart set on getting a chocolate lab and then our breeder called and said that she knew my wife was looking for a smaller lab and a lady bought one of her female labs a couple of years ago and bred it with one of our breeders Sires. Our breeder required that her dog must be tested before she would allow the breeding and the female was all "excellent/clear" and verified. The result was a beautiful litter and she had a small black female with the sweetest face and great temperament. We went to look at her (haha, who can just look at a puppy) and my wife really liked her. She is an adorable girl and we brought her home. She is 12 weeks old and her name is Holly. While I trust our breeder implicitly, I am still going to have her checked out and do the new puppy visit with my vert on Monday. I am a bit smitten and so are our adult kids. Our daughter came right over and brought her pink food/water bowls and lots of toys. Our son and granddaughter come this afternoon - after nap time.

Oh, sweet, that was a surprise! I'm so happy to see pictures of Holly. She looks lovely and so innocent! A new puppy visit to your vet is always a good idea. It looks like you have a Snuggle Puppy there in her crate. I've gotten all of mine their own. All my labs have loved them for what seems like a brief period, then they chew their ears off or some other nonsense and I have to take them away. Some labs do well with stuffies. Sadly, mine do not. We look forward to hearing more of the Adventures of Holly!

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

    Welcome
I cant really add much. Puppies are a lot of fun and a lot of work. If you put the work in it is amazing what kind of family member you will end up with. We look forward to seeing pictures and watching you new family member grow. Sooooo cute

Oh my. So how did she come to be named Holly? Lovely name. Take a look at Barry581 posts, he puts his puppies beside a lawn sprinkler each month and takes a photo. It's a neat way to show their growth. I put my pup beside a big tin that holds his dog food. Yes, keep an eye on the stuffies and blankets. Labs are mouthy, they chew. I had to take everything out of the crate for fear bitten off pieces would be swallowed and cause a blockage.

Snowshoe: I have to thank my wife for the name. We live on Holly Street and one of the first dogs as a family was a sweet girl Ivy (Scottish Terrier) and my favorite Christmas Carol is Holly and the Ivy. Corney, but I think the name just fits her.

barry581: I really had my heart set on a Chocolate lab, but when we met Holly I just knew she was the one. My wife is very happy because she is a bit smaller in stature only weighing 17.4lbs at 12 weeks. I think her brothers ate most of the food though, she still has those terrific big paws.
